Teotihuacan, Mexico, January 1995: The trip that changed my life.
Tony Aveni influenced my direction in life in a very profound way. I was a Political Science major when I signed up, as a senior, for his course on Archaeoastronomy. After seeing the man in action and coming to appreciate the deep history of humankind, taught in his classes, I had to go to Mexico for the January '95 study group. Tony and Lorraine took us to many sites in central Mexico including Teotihuacan, a place I have now worked at on and off for the last seventeen years. If I can become half as dynamic a teacher as Tony is, I will consider it to be a success.
Colgate loses its sage of time! But I, and countless others, are so grateful for what you have done for us, for the university, and for making the past come alive. Congrats and sincerest thanks.
